Hello! I am Marie, aka Captain Zayas in the Nevada Army National Guard's Medical Detachment in Reno, NV. I learned to crochet in high school and did not pick it up again until 2020. Not so much as a result of the lockdowns, but rather I am an athlete and suffered an injury that impacted my ability to walk for 10 months. I wanted a way to keep my mind engaged and my new found love for crocheting was born. As for rocks, I should have been a geologist! My partner and I moved to NV last year and on a hike, I found opalite and a green rock! being that I am from New England and we do not have green rocks there, I was fascinated. This has grown into...a slight obsession. We rock hound almost every weekend, he cuts the rocks into slabs so that I can create jewelry. We go to a local gem shop once a week to do this so your purchase here supports this small business in our community. I hope to share my passion with you for a little side money and because I cannot possibly wear everything I make. I think our family members are also tired of receiving crocheted hats HA!
